Q22. If you notice as electrical fire in an area, what will you do?
A.    Switch off electrical supply; do not use water as extinguishing agent, Use CO2 for such fires. Apart
           from it inform to fire brigade, HP, Control room & concern persons in that area.

Q23.  Give examples of the fires where water cannot be used and why?
A.      Water cannot be used for Electrical fire, Oil fire, Acid fire.

Q24.  Where CO2 or foam extinguishers are used and why?
A.      CO2 extinguisher can be used extensively to all types of fires except metal fire. Foam extinguisher is
           used for oil, paints & gaseous fire.

Q25.  Where are the fire hydrants located in the plant & how they are used?
A.       Fire hydrant location: At all floors near lift and near emergency exits. These are inside the plant
     Outside of the plant: FH1 – near UGWT, FH2 – opposite Khosla comp. w/s near corner of the plant,
     FH3 – near Substation & opposite PREFRE switch yard, FH4 – near store, FH5 – near HUT, FH6 –
     near stack, FH7 – behind canteen, FH8 – near canteen east.

Q26.  What care is taken for using high pressure cylinder?
A.      High pressure cylinder should be handled care fully, while using PRV should be used and good
          Connections must be ensured. H.P. cylinders should be kept vertical, should be chained, should not be
           rolled, should not be pulled.

Q27.  If fire occurs in radioactive area, will you: 1. put off exhaust, 2. put off supply fan, 3. keep both fans
          running?
A.      We will put off supply fans. Exhaust should not be put off.

Q28. What care will you take regarding exhaust fan filters bank in case of fire?
A.     We will put supply fan switched off.

Q29. What should be the pressure of water in outside fire hydrant ring? What are the alternatives to increase
         the pressure?
A.     Fire hydrants have pressure of 2Kg/cm2. Pressure can be increased by connecting diesel water pump to
        fire hydrant. Fire hydrant is also connected to over head tank.

Q30.  What are different types of radiations?
A.      There are 3 types of radiations. Namely: Alpha, Beta, Gamma.

Q31. Which radiation is more penetrating?
A.    Gamma rays radiation is more penetrating.

Q32. How Alpha & Beta type of radiation can be stopped?
A.    Alpha type radiation can be stopped just by piece of paper. Beta radiation can be stopped by the aluminum sheet.     

Q33. What type of radiation plutonium emits?
A.      Plutonium emits Alpha radiation.
